6 vegetables that are the same plant! : Last week I was reading about plant breeding techniques and how it generated new plant variety.
Plant breeding is important for ensuring food security by developing new varieties with desired
traits.
During my web search, I came to know an interesting fact about mustard plant that- cauliflower,
kale, broccoli and cabbage all belong to the same family originating from the mustard seed! I was
thinking that all are different vegetables and has different origin.
These vegetables were created through artificial selection. Artificial selection has enabled the
cultivation of new crops with desirable traits from one single common ancestor.
